Hobart of all of Australia's Cities as a climate most like many traditional European Cities, with cold winters and relatively mild summers. Most of Hobart is within 100 metres of sea level and being on the coast, it rarely snows in the City but Mount Wellington which is right beside the city is usually snow capped in winter, and it often snows at some point on the mountain even in summer.
Though Hobart lacks the hot desert winds in summer that Adelaide and Melbourne receive and thus it misses the Summer heat Extremes of those cities, Hobart is still a relatively dry city.On the mainland, the East Coast of Australia receives far more ran than the West Coast. Much of the West Coast can be described as where the desert meets the Ocean whereas the Green East Coast is much wetter and forested. In Tasmania the reverse is true with the West Coast see almost three times as much rain as the East. Hobart's annual rainfall is only a tad over 500m so its pretty dry.
Summers are GREAT for growing vegetables in Hobart. With no frost, and extremely long hours of sunshine, many crops such as tomatoes, beans and all many others thrive in the sunlight till 10pm days. Whilst on much o the mainland winter vegetables such as broccoli can only be grown in the dead of winter.... in Hobart they can also be grown in spring and autumn due to the milder conditions. Lower temperatures generally means less garden pests.
